Take the basil leaves from the plant and add them to a bowl.
Boil water in a pot.
Tear the basil leaves and add them to the pot. Stir and simmer for 15 minutes on low to medium heat, make sure to cover the pot with a lid.
After 15 minutes, add the sugar and honey. Stir well.
Switch off the heat and let it cool for at least 30 minutes.
Strain the basil water into a large bowl.
Add lemon juice and water to the bowl. Stir and taste. Keep it in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving.
Serve on ice cubes and garnish with a slice of lemon and a sprig of basil.
Notes
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more water or reducing the amount of sugar.Optional: strain the lemonade after adding the lemon juice if you prefer not to have lemon pulp.
