Homemade Lemon Ice Tea

I love making iced tea at home, especially when the weather gets warmer. It’s easy and I like that you can adjust the sweetness to your taste, so it’s never as sugary as the store-bought versions. It’s perfect for a sunny day at home, a picnic in the park, or a grill party with friends. You can also serve this drink in a big drink dispenser when hosting.

For this recipe I am using lemon tea from the brand Teekanne, but you can use any lemon tea you like. I usually boil water in a kettle and pour it into a large pot so I can make a few liters at once. After steeping lemon tea bags and adding a bit of sweetener, I let it cool, then place it in the fridge. This refreshing summer drink without alcohol is best served ice cold. Add ice cubes and some lemon slices or mint for an extra fresh touch. If you’re wondering how to make iced tea, then this recipe is for you! Hope you like it as much as I do.

Equipment

  • large pot
  • jug

Ingredients

  • 1 liter water
  • 3 tea bags lemon tea
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp agave syrup

SERVE WITH

  • slice of lemon
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Boil water.
  • Add the tea bags and your preferred sweetener. Let the tea brew and cool for at least 1 hour.
  • Use a funnel to pour the cooled tea into the jug.
  • Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  • Serve over ice cubes with a slice of lemon.

Notes

You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup or honey. And if you don’t have both at home, just use one or the other, or replace it with any other sweetener like sugar, maple syrup, or whatever you have at home.
One more tip: I usually place the jug in the sink, so if anything spills, it won’t end up all over your kitchen.

Enjoy!
