Homemade Chili Sauce made from Scratch

Equipment
- sauce pan
- whisk or fork
- Mixing bowl medium size
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp smoked chili pepper*
- a bit sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 60 ml rice vinegar
- a bit ginger
- 1 garlic clove
- 250 ml water
- 50 grams sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions
- Add water and cornstarch to a mixing bowl. Use a whisk or fork to mix until smooth.
- Heat up a saucepan on low-medium heat and add sesame oil.
- Add the chili peppers, grated garlic and ginger, then stir with a spatula.
- Add the rice vinegar, soy sauce and cornstarch mixture.
- Stir the mixture continuously on low-medium heat.
- When the sauce thickens, remove it from the heat and let it cool down for at least 10 minutes.
Notes
*or mix regular chili pepper with smoked paprika powder.
