Equipment

  • sauce pan
  • whisk or fork
  • Mixing bowl medium size

Ingredients
 

  • 2 tbsp smoked chili pepper*
  • a bit sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 60 ml rice vinegar
  • a bit ginger
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 250 ml water
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  • Add water and cornstarch to a mixing bowl. Use a whisk or fork to mix until smooth.
  • Heat up a saucepan on low-medium heat and add sesame oil.
  • Add the chili peppers, grated garlic and ginger, then stir with a spatula.
  • Add the rice vinegar, soy sauce and cornstarch mixture.
  • Stir the mixture continuously on low-medium heat.
  • When the sauce thickens, remove it from the heat and let it cool down for at least 10 minutes.

Notes

*or mix regular chili pepper with smoked paprika powder.
