Equipment

  • toaster or use a frying pan
  • grater
  • bread knife

Ingredients
 

  • 4 tomatoes
  • 1 ciabatta bread or french baguette*
  • 2 garlic
  • olive oil
  • sea salt flakes
  • mixed pepper

Instructions

  • Cut the bread lengthwise with a bread knife, then slice the halves into pieces about 7 cm (3 inches) wide.
  • Grate the tomatoes by cutting off the tops and pressing the flesh against the grater.
  • Peel the garlic and cut it in half.
  • Toast the bread.
  • Once toasted, rub the garlic over the warm bread.
  • Drizzle a bit of olive oil on top of the bread.
  • Use a tablespoon to add the grated tomatoes, then top with pepper and salt flakes.

Notes

*Use any crusty bread you like.
This is a simple Pan con Tomato recipe. You can upgrade the dish by adding slices of cheese, green olives, and/or tuna for extra flavour.
