Ponche Navideño | Mexican Christmas Punch

Warm up your holidays with Mexican Ponche Navideño. This warm, alcohol-free drink is a blend of pear and apple juices, fresh fruit slices and a hint of tamarind. Additionally, some Christmas spices are added for that cozy winter touch. Hope you like this recipe as much as I do!

Equipment

Ingredients
 

  • 1 liter pear juice
  • 500 ml apple juice
  • 1 pear
  • 1 orange
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste or use tamarind pods
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 15-20 cloves
  • 10 cardamom pods

OPTIONAL

  • 1 tbsp hibiscus syrup

Instructions

  • Wash and cut the apple and pear into slices. Pinch the clove buds into the pear slices.
  • Wash and cut the orange in half. Juice one half and cut the other half into small slices.
  • Add the pear and apple juices to a pot. Add the orange juice to the pot. Add the chopped fruits to the pot. Additionally, add the tamarind paste, cinnamon and cardamom pods. OPTIONAL: Add hibiscus syrup.
  • Warm everything over low-medium heat.
  • Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer on low temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Serve warm with a few slices of pear or orange.
