These puff pastry bread sticks are flaky, crispy and easy peasy to make. You just need a sheet of puff pastry and a few toppings, and you will have them ready in a few minutes. I will show you in this post exactly how I make them at home.
What I love most is how easy and flexible they are. You can go for parmesan and black pepper, rosemary with flaky salt, or sesame seeds for extra crunch. It’s the kind of recipe you can adjust to whatever you are in the mood for.
I usually serve them during an aperitivo with friends, alongside a bowl of soup, or when my friends’ kids come over.
Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, if they last that long 😀 Hope you like them as much as I do!

Equipment
- food brush
Ingredients
- 280 grams puff pastry dough
- 1 egg
TOPPING 1
- parmesan cheese
- mixed pepper
TOPPING 2
- rosemary
- salt flakes
TOPPING 3
- sesame seeds white & black
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
- Roll out your pastry dough. Use a knife or pastry wheel to cut strips that are 15 cm by 3.5 cm (6 by 1.5 inches).
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the pastry strips on the tray. Twist the strips a few times, it makes it easier to hold the end while twisting.
- Beat an egg. Use a food brush to coat the pastry twists with egg wash, apply light pressure while brushing.
- Add your preferred topping.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes.
