London Fog

London Fog

I enjoy drinking earl grey tea with milk. After doing some research online, I discovered that a similar drink was quite popular in the 90’s. That drink is called London Fog.

London fog has nothing to do with the city of London. This drink was invented in Vancouver in the 90’s by a woman called Mary Loria. This hot tea has a base of earl grey tea combined with steamed milk.

I started to play around with it an sharing in this post my take on it.

I like a touch of sweetness and used agave syrup for this recipe, but you can use honey or sugar if you would prefer. Some recipes call for vanilla and nutmeg. I have added a tiny bit of vanilla essence and topped the drink with nutmeg and lavender.

Not all lavender should be eaten. Most lavender is technically safe to eat, but culinary lavender is typically cultivated from Lavandula angustifolia plants (also known as English or “true” lavender) and has a lot less oil than the aromatic lavender used in perfumes or soaps.
